A Note from the Grower
I’ve been away on holiday. For most people this conjures up images of a hot beach and bikini.
I’ll admit i did spend a windswept day on the beach with a book (albeit about farming...) but most of my time in Devon and Cornwall was spent admiring the beauty of wildflowers, walking along the coastline and exploring other community based farms.
Keveral Farm, near Looe in Cornwall has a beautiful campfire and an amazing vegetable box scheme, using interesting techniques such as growing micro-salad leaves in trays in polytunnels. Another inspiring project Bosavern Farm, just outside St Just (in Penwith) which has been running as a community farm for the past 7 months. I’d recommend a visit to either if you are ever in the area.
Getting back to work is just as exciting at this time of year as everything is growing so quickly! We’ve taken our first crop of outdoor strawberries this morning and are busily planting out our brussel sprouts so they’ll be ready for your Christmas dinner!
